our nest, ready for Christmas!

I love decorating for the holidays! This year we put everything up in late November, so now it feels like our regular nest. I'm the type to take everything down right after the holidays, so I like to enjoy it beforehand for several weeks. I'm thinking our house will feel really cold and empty once it's all gone! Maybe I'll keep a few things as "winter" decorations :)

Anyway, here's a peek at our house all dressed up for Christmas, for those who would like to see:

I've had fun changing this Letter Board up every few days - lyrics to favourite carols, scripture, etc.
Oli being an ornament from our tree during a round of Christmas-themed charades!
The kid's books in our Advent basket, and the book I've been going through personally. Highly recommend Come Thou Long-Expected Jesus edited by Nancy Gutherie, even if you get it for next Christmas!
A few of our ornaments - we sadly lost most of mine from childhood when we had an infestation in our storage unit, but thankfully these were upstairs at the time and were spared!
I was chatting with a friend about white Christmas trees recently and I admitted to her that I waffle all the time between what I'd say is my decided Christmas decor (read more here) and bright modern Christmas decor a la white Christmas trees. I love both so much! Alas, minimalism demands that I keep it simple so I guess having two trees and two sets of decorations isn't really an option, ha!

And finally, a few of my favourite Carols that have been on repeat around here for the last months. We use our monthly Google Play subscription to listen to them all :)

Your home is so cozy, warm and inviting. I love it!

I know you're a minimalist, but I can't get over how there's no clutter anywhere (unless it's hiding...). Would love to read a post sometime about how you deal with mail/paper work, books, to-do items, kids' art, etc. Those things accumulate faster than I can deal with them at our house.

    Thanks for a great blog!

    1. Thanks Sarah!
Kids art we hang on a wire in their room, but honestly we keep very little of it. They have a bin in their room for art projects which we empty at the end of each week. They can keep the odd piece they're especially fond of but mostly it's recycled and made again and so the cycle continues. We have some magazine files in the kitchen for the kids school paper work and in my office (which is in our bedroom) I've got a small drawer and two magazine files for work stuff/family stuff. The rest goes in my husband's small office, which doubles as our home's entry way, lol! It's all very minimal because it has to be - we live in a super small space, which I'm glad for as I'm sure I'd be a hoarder if I had the space!
