How was your weekend? My mom visited for a quick 36 hours and it really was the perfect weekend for her to come.
Friday afternoon Lily tripped on our back terrace doing a bit of a victory dance after she jumped rope on one foot (ah, the simple pleasures of childhood!) and had a really bad fall. Right away we saw that there was an absolute TON of blood and the cut was wide and long. To the ER we went, and it was so wonderful having my mom at home with the younger two so Brad and I could be with Lily. All I can say is kids are incredibly resilient and our daughter is one brave, spunky lady. She was trash talking us at Candy Land awaiting stitches and more than once said "this is so fun!".
Trips to the emergency room (yes I've had a few with three young kids!) are always so affecting. The ER is really the great equalizer, isn't it?
No matter who you are, what you make in a year, or what you've done in your life, you might find yourself there. And especially a children's hospital I'm reminded that regardless of parenting techniques, styles of daycare or schooling, bottle or breast milk, or any other divisive matter, life happens and there is so much out of our control. Every parent I saw in there was loving and caring for their child during the scariest hour. Really a neat thing to witness and reflect on as Mother's Day weekend began.
Here are some posts I loved this week. Hope they inspire you as they did me!
