It's freezing over here in Montreal, so bathing suits are kind of the last thing on my mind right now, but usually I miss the boat on buying a swim suit when the stores are stocked. Come June so many stores have limited styles and sizes left (you know, when you actually can wear a bathing suit outside...), so it's not the worst idea to start thinking about swimwear now.
To be honest, I haven't always been a fan of one-piece bathing suits. As a tall girl, they used to always be way too short for my long frame and fit awkwardly. And if your top and bottom aren't the same size, they're not a great option, either. BUT! I have really grown to love one-pieces! Mostly because nowadays they're designed longer and the retro look seems to be here to stay.
And while I used to wear bikinis without a thought, I'm more conscious of my swimwear choices these days. One day it kind of dawned on me that most bras and underwear cover MORE SKIN than the average bikini, and there's a very short list of people I'd hang out with in my bra and underwear! It has nothing to do with being ashamed of my body, and it's a personal choice, but there you have it. The average bikini isn't for me.
If you're in the same boat, there are some great options this year! Here's a few I found recently:
1. Nanette Lepore, HBC | 2. Michael Kors floral halter, HBC | 3. white one-piece, Down East | 4. One shoulder floral, Lime Ricki
5. Splendid zip up, HBC | 6. R Style, Raising Wild | 7. Ralph Lauren colour block, HBC | 8. Yellow fruity suity, Mod Cloth
Next week I'll share a round up of other styles I'm loving lately (peplum tops! high wasted bottoms! modest bikinis exist!)
