There are so few toys that are actually worth buying, amiright?
Toys that can be enjoyed by various ages, will be used for many years, and that inspire imagination are rare, but they do exist! The humble play kitchen is definitely one of those toys. Just the other day I was talking to a mama friend about how great play kitchens are, and at what age to introduce them. I suggested 18 months or so, but I don't think you can go wrong! Chloe has been playing at the play kitchen since she could stand, and Lily still plays with it at five years old.
Because play kitchens are larger than most toys, we looked for one that would fit in with the rest of our home (we've has the #3 Hape kitchen for three years). No surprise, these are all super neutral! Most of these will qualify for free shipping too, and I'll bet Amazon and Well have great Boxing Day sales!
Here are my favourites:
1. Indigo Jamm red kitchenette ($110, Amazon)
2. Melissa and Doug Cooks Corner ($112, Well.ca)
3. Hape Gourmet kitchen ($85, Amazon)
4. Plan Toys sink and fridge ($45, Amazon)
5. Hape Cook'n'Serve kitchen ($128, Well.ca)
6. DUKTIG kitchen ($119, Ikea)
