some BIG news for our family.

We have really big news that we've had to keep mum for the last several months over at the Morrice household.

And no, I'm not pregnant.

But now that we've officially shared the news to all of our supporters, friends, and family, it's time to share our future plans with the blogosphere.

As of September, Brad and I will have officially left our positions with Power to Change Students. You American readers may know this ministry as Campus Crusade for Christ, or Cru. The transition has been a smooth one for me since I have been on maternity leave for nearly two years (back to back pregnancies in Canada, hello!) and still remain in contact with so many of the staff and students since they're many of my closest friends. But for Brad it's a gigantic change. He's served in Montreal with Power to Change for 7 years, traveled with them on international missions trips 10 times in various capacities, and he became a Christian through the ministry as a student. So kind of a big change to leave this great organization.

But God has called us to something awesome. And so we're listening.

We are planting a French church, in the Plateau (our awesome neighbourhood in Montreal)

!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe I just typed that sentence. Now it really feels real. We are now church planters.

To make a very long story short, Brad is tremendously gifted in teaching and both of us have a huge heart for the local church, especially in Quebec, where the population is less than 0.5% Evangelical Christian. We've been praying and considering this move for nearly 2 years, but more seriously in the last 8 months.

In April we completed an assessment with Redeemer City to City - an outstanding church-planting network that focuses on reaching influential global cities- and they endorsed us to plant a church. Provided that we gain certain training and experience this year both in Montreal and abroad, we will begin planting next year.
From the ground up.
It's intimidating and exciting and we are so certain it's the right next step for us.

We're working closely with our denomination and they have been a tremendous encouragement and support for us already. A few weeks ago before we left for Louisville, a bunch of Quebec pastors drove to our house (some from 2 hours away!) just to pray for us. Everything was in French and I was intimidated that I wouldn't be understood or understand everything, but they were beyond gracious.

Our next step gets me really excited! We're attending what's called the International Intensive, a 5 week intense training for church planters, hosted by Tim Keller, in Manhattan, NY.  So Brad and I, along with the kids, will be living in NYC this fall while Brad gets world class training to do what we really feel God is calling us to do. Plant a church in a great city.

Right now I feel...
excited for change and a new direction and to be where I feel God is saying "stay"
passionate about planting this church, serving my hubby, and reaching our neighbourhood
inspired by ideas of cultural renewal and Redeemer's vision for the city
unprepared to be a pastor's wife, especially one in French
sure of God's call even when it means stepping out of my comfort zone
ready to begin this journey with my husband (and really it's already begun!)
honoured that God would choose this path for us.
anxious to move to yet another city, only a month after we return from Louisville to Montreal (did I mention I haven't fully unpacked from our France trip yet? Yep.)
awe in God. his love for the church and the city are beyond my own ability to understand or match. but he's planting it in my heart too. i feel him and see him growing me in love for the church and the city every.single.day.

Please be praying for us!
For our time here in Louisville as Brad studies at SBTS getting his MDiv.
For our time in NYC with Redeemer to be equipping and encouraging.
For our marriage and children and adoption.
For my French to get better (Brad is fluent).
For God to build his church.

>>>  If you have any questions about
our philosophies on church planting,
reaching cities, or our future church plant,
please e-mail me or Brad.
We'd love to talk to you about it
