We may be in Kentucky, which is more central (or even Northern) when you look at a map of the USA, but we call it The South for good reason.
First, people here have Southern accents (to the untrained Canadian ear, they almost sound Texan),
Second, Kentucky qualifies for the Bible Belt (hello, church on every corner!),
and Third, IT IS REALLY HOT.
Thankfully, unlike at home in Montreal, where it is equally hot this week, we have air conditioning. It is majorly saving the nights, but in the days, Lily isn't content to just hang out inside (like her lovely little bro). We have a great deck here in our rental, so we've done a bit of this...
does anything remind you of being a kid more than this?

When the kids wake up at 1pm from their naps, we're out on the porch til dinner.
This plastic pool brings me back to my own childhood and has been a lifesaver down here in the South :)
Lily's bathing suit is the CUTEST THING EVER!! I love that it is a one piece too. And great idea with just putting the seat into the pool - Levi doesn't sit up yet and that's an awesome way to keep him cool

ReplyDeleteGenius idea of putting the seat in the pool! I love living in Canada with the different seasons but the one thing that would ever pull me to moving down south is the ability to live outside year round! And yes drinking from the hose or at least trying to totally brought me back to being a kid!
ReplyDeleteHey Em!!! Thanks for your photos! looks like fun :) We're in DC for the summer -a tad more northerly than you, but HOLEY KAMOLEY we're feeling the heat... and the humidity. And the AC is broken :( Major sad face. I think the past two days have been my most challenging mom days yet. Oi! But your positive post has encouraged me and I think I'll try the smaller containers with water since Noey hasn't really been interested in the paddling pool so far -we'll keep trying. <3

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're family had a safe trip to the South :-D We Virginians find ourselves equally in that mix as being part of the Bible Belt! So I've got to ask, how can you stand to not have air conditioning in Montreal? Is it usually cool? The Southeast of the United States is known for its humidity so if that's something new for y'all I hope it doesn't get ya down and it looks like it isn't! Have fun!
